Door panel to door panel across the rear seat. SUV is built around 57 in.
Bench to front seatbacks
That span is the hard-bottom bridge over the footwell. Truck XL if it is clearly longer than a compact SUV.
Latch and headrests
You need factory seat-belt latches and rear headrests. The tether is not a walking harness.
How the tether works
Tongue into the factory latch. Strap through the hammock slot. Carabiner on the dog’s harness D-ring. That keeps a 50–90 lb dog on the panel under braking.
Comfort pad is optional
The 51 × 24 in plush pad sits on the hammock. It is not a cargo liner and not a second seat cover.
